We have cat named Wesley, actually we have two cats, Buttercup & Wesley, but I want to talk about one. Wesley is the brother and they are 2 years old. He has an incredible bond with my middle child, Layla (8). They are best friends and have been since the day we brought him home. He follows her around, insists on sleeping on her, has the loudest pur, will let her do anything to him (including put makeup on him and hold him like a baby) and never passes up an opportunity to lick her nose. He is an incredibly cool cat and a kind of huge, but I’ve been told he isn’t fat. He is part Maine Coon.
Anyway, he has been having some medical issues lately, a crystal blockage to be exact. I hear it’s very common in male cats. We have had him to the vet hospital twice and our vet twice. On his last visit to our vet, one week ago today, we received a devastating blow. After a long and stressful day, my husband texted me as he left the vet. Our vet suggested we put him to sleep. If you do not own pets, you may not understand, but if you do, I’m sure you can empathize with me on this. I sobbed until I went to sleep. I woke in the middle of the night and laid restless with heartache. How was I going to tell Layla. I prayed for a miracle, knowing full well that GOD has enough people to worry about, let alone my cat. That morning I woke up and cried some more. I wanted so badly to keep things together so Layla wouldn’t find out. This was incredibly hard because MY heart was breaking. Then Jacque’s name came to mind. She’s a vet, maybe I should ask her what she thinks. Is my vet right or should I get another opinion. I messaged her all the info to see what she would say. Meanwhile, I got the kids ready for school. I was sitting with Wesley on my son’s bed petting him. If this is the end, I’m going to love on him like there is no tomorrow. I cried. Layla came in and asked what was wrong. I said, “Wesley is still very sick and needs some extra love right now.” She sat down and gave him the love he needed. I left to help Evan and after awhile I came in to check on her. She was crying. My heart sunk. I said, “You know, don’t you?” She nodded and crawled into my lap sobbing. Watching your daughter’s heart break in front of you is one of the hardest things I’ll have to do in life. I’m sure it won’t be the last time, but it was the first. I prayed some more.
Jacque responded and said it was worth bringing him in to see her. I brought him in. He’s so big he has to be transported in a dog crate. People oohed and ahhhed over how handsome and big he is. I couldn’t help it, it drove me to tears. I cried in the waiting room. Finally, we saw Jacque and after spending some time with him, she had hope! I couldn’t believe it! Now, it’s not over until it’s over, but she isn’t ready to give up on him. She has been an angel! She is still working with us because Wesley isn’t better yet. So since he isn’t out of the woods, please send any positive thoughts you can our way.
Now why would I share all of this on their wedding day blog post? Because it goes to show you who Jacque is. She has a heart that makes her want to heal and help everyone (animals AND people). She is generous, gentle and optimistic. Plus, the least I can do after all she has done for us, is give her an incredibly early sneak peek. 🙂
Jacque & Brandin were married on October 17th at a brand new venue! It is called Whitewoods and it’s in Wapwollopen, PA. This was such a beautiful place. It’s rustic chic and every detail has been thought through. It was a cold day, but it didn’t rain. Jacque & Brandin were excited to see each other for their first look. We were able to do their pictures before the wedding. They are so easy going and loved being with their bridal party and family. They smiled and laughed their way through the day. The ceremony went beautifully and their adorable dog, Chloe, planted herself right on mama’s train for the whole thing. Talk about a front row seat! She stole the show. They partied the night away with all of their friends and family. There were so many people there to support them.
I must also give a shout out to Kelly Moore of Ambiance Event Planning. She did an incredible job!
