I first met Nichole and her family when their first baby boy was born. I did Silas’ newborn photos and not long after, Nichole and I formed a friendship. They ended up moving to Pittsburgh not too long ago. I was really happy for them. I knew it was best for their family and would bring them all closer together. See, Daddy has a job that was keeping him away from home a lot. So this move was able to keep them together so much more.
I remember the phone call so clearly. Nichole asked for an update from me, which I gave, then I asked about her update. We just chatted for a long time. We had so much to catch up on. We started talking about when I could come out and visit. I had thought I could make a night of it and bring my kids to hang with her kids. My summers are just so busy and I wasn’t sure if or when I could make it out, but I knew I didn’t want to make the trip in winter.
She then asked, “How about February or March?” I said, “WHY?!” Then she finally gave me the good news. She said she was expecting and wondered if I could come out for a newborn session. I was so happy for her, my throat tightened and I teared up. I had a feeling they weren’t quite ready to be done having babies yet. Ya’ll know how bad I want more, so seeing friends have babies makes me so happy. I said of course I would as long as we time it around weather, haha. She then said that she didn’t know when it would be because she had more news, she was having TWINS! So of course with twins, they often come early. I then was like, “Dude, why didn’t you open the call with this news?” No way I could have kept that secret. But it shows what a good friend she is. She knew the news was big and wanted to first be considerate of me and hear anything I had to share first. I drove out and spent the night. I enjoyed lots of snuggling with the handsome Krew and Grady and catching up with Nichole until almost midnight (if not later). I slept in Silas’ cool bedroom and very early in the morning I heard baby noises coming from the master bedroom. I’m always up early this time of year for bus runs, so my internal clock had me up even after going to bed so late. I decided to go offer a helping hand. It was so fun to go snuggle the babies and let mom and dad sleep a little longer. We spent the next day doing photos. I loved spending time with the babies and the family. I know we are close enough to drive, but life is so busy that it’s far enough to be really inconvenient. So I cherished the visit.
I love these photos so so much!! You are the sweetest friend and I am so grateful that you were willing to come do these for us. So happy for your visit and hopefully we’ll get to do it again soon!
