I received a message from one of my newborn clients letting me know her baby boy had arrived. But this was no ordinary message. Her baby boy decided to come5 1/2 weeks early. After finding out that he was healthy and happy, we scheduled his session. He was almost 4 weeks old when we had his session but only 37 weeks gestational age. They arrived for his session at my Scranton studio. He was still tiny, which I expected but definitely growing. Mom, dad and I had some time right away to sit and talk about his birth story and how he was growing. Why did we have this time? Well, because Dash was hungry. 🙂 Dash, what a great name, huh? I absolutely love it.
Dash is definitely a mama’s boy. He loves spending time in his mom’s arms and being snuggled by her. I get that, my son is too. Mom’s have special bonds with their sons. At least that is true for myself. This was quite a long session because Dash loves him mom and was growing and hungry. Mom and dad had lots of patience and love for him. They kept apologizing that he wasn’t interested in sleeping and said he is the same way at home. But it’s absolutely ok with me. This is why I allot enough time for newborn sessions and try not to schedule anything right after. All babies are different. Some sleep better than others and some need more snuggling. I have patience and never get upset about it. They are just babies after all.
We did get some periods of rest out of him, though. So I captured some sweet images of this tiny little guy. It was a pleasure working with such great parents and a handsome little boy. I hope to continue to watch him grow.
This scale was dad’s scale when he was a baby. His mom has saved it this whole time and they brought it along for the session. I am not a heavy prop photographer, because I love when props have meaning to the families.
