Matt & Courtney’s engagement session Hawley PA

I had so much fun with Matt, Courtney and Jameson at their engagement session.  Wait, an engagement session for three?!  haha Oh no friends, Jameson is their fur baby and he kept distracting me with his incredible cuteness!  We met up at Ledges Hotel in Hawley, PA since it was such a special location to them.

I asked Courtney to answer some questions that I could share with the world via my blog.  She was one of the first few I have asked to do this new approach to blogging.  Her reaction reaffirmed I am on the right track here.  She said, “Matt’s answer from when he knew he wanted to marry me made me cry so thank you for that! haha I have never asked him that question & it melted my heart.”  So there you have it, this is how I will continue to blog engagement sessions!  So future couples, be prepared and hopefully you will melt too!

How did you meet?

Everyone on Tinder has a “Profile”. Courtney’s profile was filled with pictures that made sure she appeared adventurous, while Matthew’s profile was filled with pictures of him & his Lehigh University fraternity brothers.

November 25th 2014 – First Tinder Conversation:

Matt – “You’re gorgeous & you fish? Will you marry me?”

Courtney – “Can I say something crazy? YES!”

For the next two weeks Matthew and Courtney began talking & getting to know each other a bit, which resulted in Matthew asking Courtney on a date. He asked her to pick her favorite restaurant & that is where they would meet. Courtney picked a restaurant local to her, which was an hour from Matthew but only ten minutes from Courtney’s friends & family, just in case she needed rescuing from this stranger she met online. Matthew prepared for their date by changing his outfit about 3 different times & then venturing to the little town of Hawley, PA to meet his Tinder match.

To make a long (but amazing) first date story short, their first date lasted 5 hours long. They spent 5 out of the 7 days together that first week.  This resulted in Matthew asking Courtney to be his girlfriend 3 weeks later. The two have been inseparable ever since.

This was both of their first Tinder dates, & also their last!

When did you each know you wanted to marry the other?

Courtney – It sounds so cheesy but on our first date!!! When we first officially met in person, he greeted me by telling how beautiful I looked.  Then during our dinner together I could tell he was so nervous! (Which I found to be so cute.) After dinner, we drove separately to a spot that I wanted to show Matthew, near where I grew up. (I added this on to our date last second because I really didn’t want the night to end.) On the way I called one of my best friends and said “Hey, I AM IN LOVE!!!!” her response to me was “You are a psycho, you just met him!!” but I swear I knew, he was unlike anyone I had ever met before. I had him follow me to a little spot in Honesdale that overlooks my hometown & before we parted ways he kissed my hand (who even does that anymore?! So sweet!) & said that he couldn’t wait to see me again. We were together 5 out of the 7 days that week & to this day I still cant get enough of him!

Matthew- My very first pickup line to Courtney was, “you’re beautiful and you fish? Will you marry me?” So I pretty much knew without even meeting her in person that I wanted to marry this woman! All joking aside, I knew within the first month of dating Courtney that she was the one. My boss had to actually talk me out of buying an engagement ring because I was so head over heels about her.  I came to my senses eventually and figured I would give it some time to see where this relationship was headed…and with every single day that passed it made my urge to get down on one knee stronger and stronger. It only took me 3 months to ask her to move in with me, and at 6 months I had started my “ring fund” because I knew that this day was going to happen.

The two had an amazing dinner, as always, at their favorite restaurant. While sitting on the deck enjoying some cocktails after their meal, Matthew lead Courtney up to the top balcony of the restaurant, overlooking the gorgeous waterfalls & proposed with the most gorgeous ring that Courtney has ever seen! Following the proposal & many phone calls later, spilling the exciting news, Matthew then took Courtney to her parents house where her family was there waiting with champagne & cake to celebrate!

That was just the beginning of the celebration because then the two jetted off to South Carolina 2 days later for the week with The Fitz family for some more celebration & beach relaxation!

Jameson Happy Fitz!! He is the cutest mini golden doodle ever and loves people so much! He is a big goofball who smiles for every picture & absolutely loves being told how handsome he is!

Courtney grew up as a huge animal lover.  When Matthew asked Courtney to move in, it was only a matter of time. One day Courtney came home after a bad day & Matthew knew the first thing to do to cheer her up, take her to the pet store to just PET puppies! In the parking lot before walking in Matthew said, “The only rule is we cannot leave with a dog” Courtney agreed & those are now Matthews famous last words.

We are both just so in love with him! He really completes our home.

Wedding location and why?

Woodloch Resort I where we will be getting married! Courtney has worked there for many years and it was really a no brainer. Not only is it gorgeous, but the service and staff there is unlike any other place we had been to. Also the lake that we will be overlooking during our ceremony is breathtaking!!!! We visited a few other venues to keep our options open but nowhere even compared. We have a lot of out of town guests who will traveling from far & will most likely be staying for the entire weekend. Woodloch just has that fun, family friendly atmosphere that we know our family and friends will love!

Finally getting to marry each other!!!! I know that’s the obvious answer but also having every single person who we love, who has supported us, not only individually but as a couple, all in 1 room. When does that ever happen again in your lifetime? Its so special & we seriously cannot wait to share this day with everyone!

I have LOVED getting to know you both.  Your love for each other is undeniable.  You will undoubtedly spend the rest of your lives snuggling, making each other laugh, celebrating joys and being the other’s shoulder when they need it. I’m so excited to celebrate your day with you in May!  Thanks for inviting me along on this journey with you.
