I answered the phone as it rang and displayed an unknown number.  This isn’t normal for me.  I get so many telemarketers calling me each day that I have given up. They used to just be out of state numbers, but they have gotten tricky and loop through local numbers.  So if I don’t recognize the number and I’m not expecting a call, I do not answer.  But for some reason, I answered.

On the other end was a sweet voice asking if I had any availability for an anniversary session this year.  My heart sunk because I really didn’t.  My schedule was just so full and even if I had the time to physically shoot it, my editing and back end pile is so high.  But something in Ruth’s voice made me say, “…. but tell me what you had in mind.”   I wanted to help in some way, even if it meant pointing her int he direction of someone else.

She began to describe a lifestyle anniversary session.  She and her husband plan to buy a house soon and move out of the apartment that they have put a lot of love and thought into.  This is where their story began and they didn’t want to forget it.  They wanted a snapshot of their life together right now.  I couldn’t help but say yes.  I knew it would be something different and fun to do.  We scheduled the session and I have not regretted it for one moment.I arrived and was greeted with the best smile from Ruth and she was a little stressed because she wasn’t done getting ready yet.  I could tell right away she has such a warm heart and giving spirit.  It didn’t take long for me to feel right at home with this beautiful couple.  Phil came home from work and also greeted me with a huge smile.  We got right to work baking cookies, making coffee and they even enjoyed a game of go fish!  I told them they are the NEPA version of Chip & Joanna Gaines.  They truly are and I hope that one day Ruth eye for design and style is put out there for the world in whatever form fits with their life.  I’ve encouraged her to blog and I hope that one day she does.  She will already have a fan!
