I had never been to Harvey’s Lake. Shocking, I know. I’m so happy I had the opportunity to visit. Rich grew up here and they wanted to do their engagement session here this past summer. I can see why he loves it so much. It is such a cute area and I immediately had visions of the best summer memories being made here. It looks like something out of a movie.
As I drove around the lake before their session, I realized quickly that this was nothing like any location I have been to. As adorable as it was, I was becoming aware that there wasn’t much but the lake and private property wrapped all around. While it was beautiful and I knew we would get some cute shots on the lake, there was a part of what I normally do that would be missing. Plus, I get awfully sea sick when trying to shoot while floating. So I knew I couldn’t do the entire session this way if I didn’t want to embarrass myself.
I voiced my concerns and so we hopped in Rich’s truck and went scouting. I knew what I was looking for, it was just a matter of finding it. Finally, I did! A public parking lot happened to be lined with some trees. We pulled over and made a little magic happen. I’m so happy Rich and Jen trusted me. We got a little of what I needed before heading to his old school and then to the water.
I’m so happy with how these turned out and grateful for the time I got to spend with these two. They are the sweetest and truly in love. Rich and Jen are gentle souls and really care about family. They are going to have a beautiful life together and I am so excited for their October wedding! Luckily, we won’t have to go location scouting since they are getting married at The Beaumont Inn. There is plenty of beauty there.
