Danielle and I couldn’t believe it was time to start thinking of ideas for Isla’s first birthday. The planners that we are, we knew we had to get a head start. Danielle told me she did not want to do a traditional cake smash. So I hit Pinterest for some ideas. I wasn’t really finding anything that seemed like a good fit. Danielle is a world traveler (and incredibly talented photographer I might add) and so I started searching French desserts. I don’t know why French desserts, but it seemed like I would find a hit there, haha. Still, nothing was grabbing me. Then I saw it! A donut. Specifically, a beignet popped up and made me say “donut”.
A donut was PERFECT! I remember how Danielle loved going to Krispy Kreme when she was pregnant with Isla. It was something she frequently craved. I don’t blame her! Krispy Kreme is hard to say no to. So I sent Danielle my thoughts and she exclaimed it was perfect. So we went with this donut smash for her first birthday session and it couldn’t have turned out more precious.
We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to captures some Mother’s Day images while we were at it! Isla loved her mama’s necklace and gladly shared some kisses. I’d like to let you think she was smiling at me, however I must give proper credit to Dad! Isla’s dad can get her rolling with laughter with very little effort.
I just love this family and Danielle is a dear dear friend of mine. I’m so honored I was able to capture these moments for them!
