We have always wanted a dog. We never got one because our home is small and we were busy having babies. Who wants to train a puppy when you have newborns and young children at home? I know I wasn’t up for that challenge. We compromised almost 2 years ago by getting kittens. They are Wesley & Buttercup (brother and sister). We LOVE them. They have been a great addition to our family. I really wanted my kids to experience having pets since I grew up with them and cats were a perfect start for us.
As much as we have loved having our cats, a dog has not left the wishlist. After much consideration, we decided it was actually the perfect time! It took some research and compromise on a breed, but we are so thrilled to announce that we have decided on a chocolate Cockapoo. Now, I know this is truly a mutt but we are thrilled with our choice! He is perfect for us! We didn’t want a big dog due to our space but didn’t want something super tiny either. We did look into rescuing, but we just couldn’t find a dog that would be a good fit for our space and lifestyle that was young with no health concerns. So we ended up getting a puppy.
We had a hard time choosing a name! There were many we liked and many we didn’t. We finally made the decision this morning! (I couldn’t call him “Puppy” for another day, lol.) His name is: MILO!
Here are some quick photos I snapped yesterday. At the bottom is a short clip (no sound) of him playing with his ball. He loves running around outside with the kids and playing with his ball.
The cats need some time. Wesley has been coming around and checking him out, but runs the minute Milo advances to him. Even though Wesley is double his size. Buttercup is hiding in the bedrooms and refuses to come out. We moved the food and litterbox to her in a back bathroom. Hopefully, they come around and in a few months I can share cute snuggle photos. I have big dreams!
