So, my good friend Amanda Makala of Amanda Brooke Photography, came to a recent newborn session to observe me and take some fabulous behind the scenes pics for me to share. Thank you so much, Amanda! Although I hate being in pictures, it’s great to have pictures of me working since I love what I do so much. 🙂
So, #1, when working with a baby, I love being comfortable. So please forgive my leggings and comfy wear. At least I don’t show up in my favorite sweats, hehe.
Lots of “shushing” goes on with newborn sessions. Although, this little guy was REALLY good lol. But still. They like to know it’s ok and they are not alone. I use a white noise app as well. That, me and the heater usually does the trick.
Don’t worry I will not overheat your baby! I have a big studio, it gets drafty by the door, so I have to keep it nice and warm. I try to keep it around 90 degrees. I get sweaty when working but often times I am just warm not sweating. So trust me, baby is happy. If baby is cold, that’s when they get really upset and won’t sleep. I also find just by touching newborns they soothe and calm down. So often times, all I need to do is rest my hands on them, like below.
Ahhhh, snuggles. I get to snuggle newborns lots!!! At one point in my youth I wanted to be a nurse. But I can’t handle blood or anything, I have one of the weakest stomachs. I wanted to work in the nursery. I didn’t want to deliver babies. I just wanted to take care of newborns. Hmmm… lol. Well, I think I ended up with a better gig. 🙂
So, in closing, I just want you to know that if you are considering using me for your newborn photographer:
- I love newborns
- I take good care of them and handle them with care
- I have a beautiful and comfortable studio for you to kick back and hang out in (Keurig, water, bathroom, couch, nursing/changing area, beautiful art to look at, etc)
- You will love your portraits and not regret it
- Did I mention I love newborns??? 🙂
Just came by to take a look and your work is beautiful. I used to work with your Dad and saw your web-site on his page. Again, your pictures are beautiful. Good luck..
Your photos make me want another baby!
